Avoiding Low Back Injuries

Let’s talk about 3 tips to get rid of lower back pain from squats. In most cases, pain from squatting comes to technical errors; whether the pain is in the lower back or in the knees. Sometimes, the lower back pain can actually originate from the hips

  1. The biggest cause of lower back injuries is incorrect lifting technique. Not many people understand that even lifting light weight items can cause a lower back injury if lifted in the wrong manner. It is important to always use your legs when lifting. By lifting items in a squat position and having your heels on the ground when lifting, this transfers the force through your legs and heels into the ground, rather then putting the force through your back when bending over to pick something up.

2. Don’t twist and lift! One of the biggest mistakes people do when listing heavy items is twisting the lower back when lifting, this may be to put it move an item to a different spot or just to get something out of the way. The twist creates significant force in the lower back which can result in injuries.

3. Continue to keep your spine health in good condition, regular chiropractic visits, a detailed exercise program, good posture and keeping moving all play a large part in spine health.
